How the CarTurn™ Works

The heart of the CarTurn is a small but powerful hydraulic rotator capable of 2500 ft-lbs. of torque. This rotator is installed in a heavy 10" x 10" stainless steel base that is sunk into the pavement 10". This serves as an anchor and resists counter-rotation allowing the CarTurn to move cars and trucks weighing up to 5,000 lbs. The rotator attaches to a 4’ diameter steel disk which in turn has 16 steel trapezoidal segments or petals attached around the perimeter to form an above-ground vehicle turntable.

A simple hydraulic Power Unit pumps a gallon per minute of ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) to and from the rotator Typically, this 1 hp Power Unit is located in a sheltered space. Connections between the two are made with hydraulic hose which can be buried. The CarTurn is turned on and off using a radio remote control.
