Locating your CarTurn™

The unique above-ground design of the CarTurn allows you to locate it on virtually any paved surface. The unit is above ground for two reasons: 1) Installed cost is lower when major work in the driveway can be avoided (only the center 10" x 10" anchor needs to be sunk into the ground). The 2500ft-lbs. of available torque allows for installations on a significant slope. What is important is that the surface be relatively planar (no large dips or humps). Each of the sixteen trapezoidal segments or "petals" has a roller out near the perimeter which runs on a hidden circular track. These sixteen rollers carry the weight of your car so the track needs to rest on a solid surface. Slight undulations can be accommodated as each of the sixteen segments hinge where the bolted connection is made to the central disk.

When selecting a site for your CarTurn, consider first the overall diagonal length of the largest vehicle you intend to rotate. This length is the diameter of the circle your vehicle sweeps as it rotates. Add a margin for safety since the vehicle will not always be parked on dead center.

Now superimpose this circle on your driveway or in your garage or carport. Obviously, no fixed objects can exist in this circle. If bushes encroach please recognize that they will sweep against your car as it turns. If another car is occasionally parked within this circle it is important to understand that the vehicle on the CarTurn can not be rotated while that other vehicle remains within the circle.
